Christ Church, the Anglican Church in Vienna (Church of England), seeks to be a welcoming and caring church, providing a spiritual home for all generations that respects diversity and invites people from every walk of life to worship God, to grow as Christians in faith and understanding as well as to participate in God’s mission to the world as disciples of Jesus and stewards of God’s creation.

Although there has been an Anglican priest in Vienna, acting as honorary chaplain to the British ambassador and ministering to the Anglican resident community at least since the late 17th century, there has only been a permanent building since 1877. And from 1877 until the present, Christ Church has grown from a small embassy community to a thriving and diverse church in the heart of a great city. Christ Church Vienna, indeed the Church of England, has no legal personality in Austria and is not one of the religious groups explicitly recognized by law (Religionsgesetz). We operate as a private charitable association (Verein), incorporated on 15 October 1995, reg. No. (ZVR-Zahl) 368988936. Our full official title is Verein für die Förderung und Unterstützung der anglikanischen Kirche in Österreich – Christ Church Support Association.
