Blog #29: Living Light in Summertime

July 29, 2021
Christ Church Vienna community members
Instead of our regular Living Light blogs, we are publishing haikus composed by parishioners and readers in July and August, sharing moments of joy or reflection in caring for creation. The invitation is to compose a creation-minded thought or observation in three lines, the first one with five syllables, the second one with seven syllables, the third with five syllables again. Please send us your haikus to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. We will publish new ones weekly!

Bees buzzin around
the lavender int' garden.
What a luvly sight.

I wrote this haiku whilst outside, witnessing the beauty of nature. It really amazes me how, when we stop and pay attention to the nature around us, it can both brighten our mood and allow us to see the beauty of God's creation. The lavender bush that I was looking at had so many bees buzzing around it, and it really was a beautiful sight. Finally, you may wonder why the spelling and language is slightly odd. There's no other explanation than the fact I'm from Yorkshire and 'luv' the Yorkshire accent.
